One particular gem at Bar Metropol that caught my attention was the café leche manchada, complemented perfectly by tostado with mantequilla and strawberry marmalade. As Damien Aked enthusiastically shares, it’s "simple, but aren’t all amazing things simple?" The dish manages to be both affordable and incredibly flavorful, leaving a lasting impression. It’s often the simplest meals that evoke the strongest feelings, and this one is no exception.
Moreover, dishes are served with a complimentary glass of water, which adds an extra touch of hospitality. “ Very tasty coffee for a friendly price, some of the personnel a bit grumpy. ”
“ Really nice bar with good food and really friendly service ”
“ The Metropol is currently on one of my daily walks and when possible I stop here. I especially like to stop on a morning for café leche manchada, tostado, mantequilla y marmalade.(for me, preferably strawberry) It's simple, but aren't all amazing things simple, it's very affordable, it's incredibly mind blowing tasty and it comes with a free class of water. Coffee often makes me feel thirsty and no other café or restaurant I've been to in the whole area of Portil has offered me this. One gets the idea that the owner may have spent time in America where it is often customary to provide fresh cold water the moment you sit down irrespective of what you're having. I love it, I love it, I love it. This is the first time I've given anywhere a 3 'Love it' score, but trust me it deserves it for it's simplicity, the taste of the food and (did I mention the service?), the service. Should you be a restaurant owner yourself visit this place for the perfect example of how to train your staff. These guys are; a) constantly attentive, looking round and checking out the tables (and there are a lot of tables). b) they listen attentively to your order and get it right with repetition and writing it down. No relying on memory alone here. c) they clear the table swiftly, but with no harassment to kick you out. They attend to the bill quickly, should you need to be on your way (which allows them to offer the table to the next lucky guests of course) All sensible restaurant practice, you might say. I'd say "But if that's the case why can't other restaurants be equally as good?" As I said, if you own a restaurant and want to train your staff you could do worse than sending them here for a simple, but scrumptious and highly affordable breakfast. Go on then, what on earth are you waiting for? ”
“ Very friendly venue with good food and great service. Very reasonably priced as well. ”
